Changing What to Expect from an Eye Exam

Serving the New Braunfels area for your vision needs since 2018, we have introduced an exam that is rooted in not just the refractive concerns you may have, but the functional and developmental aspects of your vision. This means that your exam will include services you may not have seen before. For example, as a standard service, our RightEye tracking system will give you a report on how well your eyes perform while reading or adjusting to quick movements. We know that your world is more than an assortment of letters on a chart twenty feet away, and we aim to give you the tools needed to tackle it head on.

Focusing

Do you struggle with blurry vision at near/far distances?
What about your ability to copy what you see onto a piece of paper?
Do you avoid reading?

Eye Teaming

Also known as binocular vision, this is the ability of both eyes to work together to create a single, clear image.

Do you experience double vision?
When reading, do the words appear to move on the page?
Do you get tired quickly or constantly feel the need to rub your eyes?

Visual Processing

If your child passes a vision test, but can't tell the difference between a triangle and a square, the eyes aren't the problem.

Do you have poor reading comprehension?

Visual Motor

The ability to use your eyes and hands together to perform every day tasks

Calibrated to your eyes, this device will analyze how your eyes work together. In just a few minutes, we can automatically uncover and track any eye movement impairments and illustrate this in a detailed report. Ever wonder why your child struggles with reading homework? Watch in real time as we show how his eyes are bouncing around the page instead of smoothly left to right.

VO Star

The Van Orden (VO) Star is how we measure a patient's perception of visual space. We utilize a cheiroscope's optics to allow you to see each side of the test card separately as you create two sets of converging lines. This will allow us to tell you a lot about your overall visual function; do you suffer from vertical deviations? Central suppression? Phorias?

Balance Tracking System

Have you ever had a concussion? Stroke? Do you suffer from vertigo or dizziness? Our Balance Tracking System device and software will provide detailed postural sway analysis. Not only can we assess your fall risk or tell you what you may already know, that you're off balance, but we can use this to train and rehabilitate your postural control. We're helping you understand how your vision is in control of so much more than your visual clarity.
